Description
The 1988–1994 Chevy and GMC trucks—commonly referred to as OBS (Old Body Style)—have become iconic for their boxy design and simple interiors. The blue dashboard from this generation is a recognizable feature, particularly in standard and mid-trim models of the C/K1500, C/K2500, and C/K3500 series.
Here’s a detailed look at the blue dashboard found in these trucks:
1. Dashboard Design Overview
• Made of a hard plastic shell with vinyl-padded surfaces.
• The blue color (often referred to as “Medium Blue” or “Dark Blue”) was a popular interior color option, especially during the late ’80s and early ’90s.
• Dashboard layout is horizontal and straightforward:
◦ Left: analog gauge cluster (speedometer, fuel, temp, oil, volts).
◦ Center: HVAC controls and radio.
◦ Right: glove box and vents.
•
• Dash pad and bezel are separate components.
